Death
CONCORD — Mrs. H. L. Furr, 85, of 61 Carolina Avenue, Concord, died at 8:40 last night at her home. She had been in declining health for two years and was seriously ill for two days. The former Lydia Gadd, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Margaret Efird Gadd, born March 23, 1869, in Cabarrus County. She had made her home in Concord for the past 40 years. Her husband, H. L. Furr, died in 1945. Mrs. Furr is survived by six children, Mrs. Collie Herrin, Mrs. O. T. Johnson, and Eugene Furr, all of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. A. H. Baker, Mrs. Bessie Threatt, and Dewey L. Furr, all of Concord; one sister, Mrs. J. B. Hartsell of Lincolnton; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:30 at the home. Rev. J. J. Powell, pastor of the Epworth Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. The body will be taken from Lady's Funeral Home to the residence at 9 o'clock Thursday morning.The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, October 27, 1954
