Death
Services for Ruby Maye Furr Woods, 91, of McKinney, who died at Columbia/North Medical Center Sunday, will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home with burial at Pecan Grove Cemetery. She was born Aug. 22, 1904, in McKinney, to James and Martha Ann Christina Dry Furr. She attended school in Rheas Mill, and was married to Elzy Lee Woods on March 26, 1926 in Dallas. They would have celebrated 70 years together this year. The Woods worked side by side operating Woods Cafe in downtown McKinney for 28 years. Upon retiring in 1952, they opened Woods Motel which remains family-owned and operated today. As a devoted member of First Baptist Church in McKinney, she will be remembered by many as a teacher in the Junior Department for a number of years. She remained an active member of the Fidelis Class and will be missed by the members who were also counted among her lifelong friends. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons and their wives, Robert L. and Peggy Woods, of Upper Marlboro, MD; Jackie F. and Martha Woods, of McKinney; and Jimmy H. and Carol Woods, of Waco; 10 grandchilddren (sic) and 12 great-grandchildren. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at Turrentine-Jackson- Morrow Funeral Directors.The Courier-Gazette, McKinney, Texas, February 6, 1996
