Marriage date is from a family bible and Cabarrus County records. Witnesses were William Bost and Daniel Wilhem.Death
News was received in Concord last night of the death of Mr. Moses M. Furr, one of the best known and most influential farmers and business men in Cabarrus county. The death of Mr. Furr occurred at his home in No. 10 township, near Midland, at 8 o'clock last night and the news was received here with sincere regret by the many friends of this estimable man. Mr. Furr had been seriously ill for 2 week, having suffered a stroke of paralysis one week ago yesterday. His condition grew steadily worse until yesterday, when he suffered another one which resulted in his death. The deceased, who was 81 years of age, is survived by his wife and nine children, eight daughters and one son. The children are: Mrs. Will Burleson, of No. 10 township, Mrs. G.C. Shinn, of Georgeville, Mrs. Electer Tucker of Midland, Mrs. A. P. Widenhouse, of Midland, Mrs. L. T. Shinn, of Georgeville, Misses Alice, Daisy and Nell Furr, who lived with their parents, Mr. D. Henry Furr, of N. 10 township. Mr. Furr served throughout the War Between the States, and lived in this county both before and after the war, continuously. He was a member of the St. Martin's Lutheran church, and from childhood has been a most devout and earnest church worker. Mr. Furr suffered his first illness in 1914, when attending the veterans’ Reunion, in Jacksonville, Fla., and for a time it was feared he would not live. He grew rapidly better however, and had been in good health until last Sunday, when he suffered the stroke of paralysis. The funeral services over the remains will be held at St. Martin’s Church tomorrow at 11 o'clock, and the interment at the cemetery at the church. The following will be the pallbearers: L. T. Hartsell, W. W. Flowe, C.F. Ritchie, J. M. Cook, C. E. Boger, C. J. Harris, C. W. Swink, W. A. Foil, F. E. White and Alfred Tucker. The death of Mr. Furr removed one of the best known, best liked and most successful farmers in Cabarrus County. He always worked for the good of his community and county, and he will be sorely missed by a large circle of friends. The Concord Times, Concord, North Carolina, June 9, 1919
