Death
NORWOOD — Mrs. Edna Furr Luther, 78, of 294 Main St., was dead on arrival at Stanly County Hospital on Monday morning. She had been in declining health for seven weeks. The funeral will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday in South Stanly Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Henry Jenkins and the Rev. Otis Goins. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery. The family will be at the Stanly Funeral Home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral. Born July 31, 1901, in Stanly county, Mrs. Luther was a daughter of the late John and Sophronia Howell Furr. She was retired from Collins and Aikman in Norwood. Her husband, Charles N. Luther, died in 1976. Survivors include two sons, Ernest and Fred Luther, both of Norwood; one daughter, Mrs. Muriel L. Furr of Norwood; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ila L. Austin of Salisbury; one brother, James W. Furr of Stanfield; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Furr of Stanfield and Mrs. Faye Melton of Faith; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, April 1, 1980
