Death
Wednesday, April 10, 2013 — Ernest Lee “Pete” Luther, 88, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Silver Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Little will officiate and burial will follow in Norview Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m., prior to the service at the church. Mr. Luther was born April 7, 1925, in Stanly County, to the late Charles Norman and Cora Edna Furr Luther. He was a charter member of South Stanly Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director and Deacon. In 2009, he joined Silver Springs Baptist Church and was proud to have over 40 years of perfect attendance. He was a retiree of Rusco Store Fixtures and was owner of Luther’s Greenhouse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Frick Luther, who passed away January 15, 2013; his brother, Fred Luther; and sister, Muriel Furr. He is survived by his son, Byron Luther and wife Lynn of Albemarle; daughter, Paula Byrd and husband Keith of Norwood; four grandchildren, Sammy Byrd and wife LeAnne of Seattle, Wash., Kevin Byrd of Albemarle, Kelly Byrd and wife Julie of Monroe and Tiffany Luther of Albemarle; four great-grandchildren, Sam and Andrea Byrd of Albemarle, Kiersten Byrd of Monroe and Josh Darrow of Seattle, Wash.
