Mr. Claude Richard "Tubby'' Furr, 79, textile retiree, died June 5, 1995, at Stanly Manor. Funeral is 11 a.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home.Survivors are his brothers, Jack Furr, Tommy Furr; sisters, Mrs. Ruth Morris, Mrs. Pauline Burleson, Mrs. Myrtle Howard; stepsons, Fred Litaker of Charlotte, Robert Litaker.The family will be at Robert Litaker's home, 1205 Pennington Rd.ALBEMARLE — Claude Richard “Tubby” Furr, 79, 635 Bethany Road, died Monday Gune 5, 1995 at Stanly Manor Nursing Home. Born July 14, 1915, in Stanly County, Furr was a son of the late Marshall Filmore and Nora Dennis Furr. Retired as a maintenance worker from Wiscasset Mills dye house, he was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. His wife, Mattie Hatley Litaker Furr, preceded him in death. Survivors include brothers Jack and Tommy Furr, both of Albemarle; sisters Ruth Morris, Pauline Burleson and Myrtle Howard, all of Albemarle; stepsons Fred Litaker, Charlotte, and Robert Litaker, Albemarle; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, conducted by Dr. James Tucker and the Rev. Caroll Flack. Burial at Fairview Memorial Park. Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other timesthe family will be at the home of stepson Robert Litaker, 1205 Pennington Road.
