Death
ALBEMARLE — Myrtle Furr Howard, 87, formerly of Wiscassett Street, died Monday (Aug. 12, 1996) at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center. Born Jan. 31, 1996 (sic), in Stanly County, Mrs. Howard was a daughter of the late Marshall and Nora Dennis Furr. She retired as a dyer from Wiscassett Mills Co. after 50 years. Her husband, Earl Lemuel “Pappy” Howard, died in 1984. Survivors include sons Max F. Howard, Norwood, and Ned L. Howard, Albemarle; brothers Tommy and Jack Furr, Albemarle; sisters Pauline F. Burleson and Ruth F. Morris, Albemarle; five grand- children; six step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jon Hoey. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park. Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, August 13, 1996
