ALBEMARLE — Mrs. Mattie Hatley Furr, 69, of Rt. 2, died Wednesday morning at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Centerview Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jessie R. Dennis. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral. Born Feb. 11, 1909, in Stanly County, Mrs. Furr was a daughter of the late Eli Rufus and Wincie Smith Hatley. She was a member of Centerview Baptist Church and was retired from Wiscassett Mill Company after 51 years of service. Survivors include her husband, Claude Richard Furr, two sons, Robert W. Litaker of Albemarle and Fred E. Litaker of Charlotte, three brothers, James Hatley of Albemarle and Glenn and Fred Odell Hatley both of Charlotte. Three sisters. Mrs. Grace Weaver of Oakboro, Mrs. Novella Green of Norwood and Mrs. Lots Forrest of Badin, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.Endnotes
