The State Journal-Register, Springfield, Illinois, Monday, November 17, 2003: Carlinville---Glen S. Mabus, 93, of Carlinville died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Carlinville Area Hospital. He was born March 11, 1910, in Sesser, the son of August and Flossie Kirkpatrick Mabus. He married Ruby Merkel in 1930 in South Bend, Ind. Mr. Mabus retired as a farmer from the Carlinville area. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, and Macoupin County Farm Bureau. Survivors: wife, Ruby; a daughter, Shirley (husband, David) Hearn of Litchfield; five sons, Jerry (wife, Becky) Mabus of Carlinville, Phillip (wife, Sherry) Mabus of Shipman, Paul (wife, Suzanne) Mabus of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Merrill (wife, Celeste) Mabus of Chesterfield and Harold (wife, Becky) Mabus of Springfield, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Loren (wife, Martha) Mabus of Riverton; three sisters, Grace Lemons of Sesser, Edna Nevins of Springfield and Lorraine (husband, Joe) Beyak of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Charity Baptist Church, Carlinville, the Rev. John Mabus and the Rev. Bob Brandon officiating. Burial: Charity Cemetery, rural Carlinville. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
