From the Du Quoin Evening Call, Friday, October 31, 2003: Audrey M. Kirkpatrick, 87, of Tamaroa, passed away at 11:50 P.M., Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at Veteran's Affair Hospital in Marion, IL. Audrey worked as a coal miner at Peabody Coal Company and was owner and operator of Tamaroa Lumber Company from 1968 until 1976. He was also a farmer. He was a member of Tamaroa Christian Church, a Republican Precinct Committeeman, and Tamaroa American Legion member. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of W.W. II. He was born February 11, 1916 at Sesser, IL, the son of William C. and Minerva J. (Martin) Kirkpatrick. He married Jessie M. Sprenger on September 17, 1939 at Perryville, Missouri and she survives. He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, children - Florence Kirkpatrick of Tamaroa, Arven Kirkpatrick and wife Sally of Tamaroa, Sally Knight and husband Frank of Assumption, Illinois, and Jane Taylor and husband Tom of Wauchula, FL, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son - Carl, four brothers and four sisters. Graveside services were at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 2, 2003 at Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin with Bro. Arven Kirkpatrick officiating. Those attending the service were asked to go directly to the cemetery. Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin. Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa was in charge of arrangements. Friends may make memorials to Tamaroa Christian Church Mission Fund.
