Luna Jane Ritter was born 10 November 1900. She attended Mississippi State Teachers' College (now the University of Southern Mississippi), and obtained her teachers' license in 1920. She taught first grade prior to her marriage to Amos Rye. Amos was born 4 December 1898 and died 14 October 1972. Luna died on 1 November 1926, in childbirth, of peritonitis; the child, a baby boy died in childbirth also.
