On the 1870 U. S. Census of Bloomfield, Polk Co., Iowa, R. M. Brisco appears with his wife Catherine and children Martha, Emma, Charles, Jennetta, Ida and Clara. R. M. is a farmer.
On the 1880 Census of Polk Co., Iowa. R. M. appears with his wife Catherine and children Charles H., Jenette, Ida, Carrie, Samuel, Kate and Baby age 7 months.

BRISCO, R. M. - Farmer and stock raiser, section 34, P. O. Des Moines. Was born April 2, 1830, in Monroe county, Indiana, and when fourteen years of age moved with his parents to Koscinako county, the same State, where he lived until nineteen years old. From there he went to Berrian county, Michigan, where he remained until 1865. He then came to this county, and April 1, 1865, settled on section 27, just north of his present home. He owns 400 acres of land, all improved and in cultivation. The north line of his land is two miles south of the incorporation of Des Moines, while his building is three miles. September 5, 1850, he married Miss Catherine J. Wykoff, a native of Indiana, born October 26, 1834. Her mother is living with them. She was born in Jefferson county, Virginia, in 1800, and enjoys reasonable good health. Mr. and Mrs. Briscoe have a family of ten children living: Sarah E., Martha E., Emma F., Charles H., Jennette B., Kittie, Maggie, Ida, Clara and Samuel B. Two are dead: Alice E. and Annie D.
On the 1900 U. S. Census of Bloomfield, Polk Co., Iowa, R. M. Brisco appears with his wife K. J. and daughters Kit and Mabel. On the same page are listings for their sons C. H. and Samuel.
On the 1910 U. S. Census of Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa, Robinson Briscoe age 81 appears with his wife Katherine J. age 75. Their daughters Kittie P., Mabel and Emma F. Jones, as well as two grandchildren Ethel M. and Burton R. Jones are also in the household. Robinson has his own income. Kittie is an office worker in a medicine company, Mabel is a stenographer in a physician's office and Emma works as a dressmaker at home. Ethel is a teacher/principal of a high school. Katherine is the mother of 12, 9 of whom are currently living. Emma is a widow who is the mother of 5, 4 of whom are currently living.
