Cecil Democrat, Cecil, Maryland, 20 September 1962: Roy Clyde Shepherd, 56, husband of Olive Strong Shepherd, died at his home in Charlestown Sept. 16. Mr. Shepherd was a World War II Navy veteran. He was an employee of Apgar Lumber Company in North East. In addition to his widow he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joseph P. McKinney living in France, and Miss Betty Lou Shepherd at home; a step-son, Norman W. Smith at home; his mother Lucille Shepherd of North East, two brothers R. Earl Shepherd of Chicago, Ill., and James E. Shepherd of North East; two sisters, Mrs. Hayes Biddle and Miss Virginia A. Shepherd of North East. Funeral services were held from the Grant funeral home in North East Sept. 19 with the Rev. Thomas C. Short, pastor of the North East Methodist church officiating. Interment was in the North East Methodist cemetery.
