Obituary of Olive E. Shepherd
Olive E. Shepherd, 401 Concord Apts., Perryville, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1994, of heart failure at Calvert Manor Nursing Home near Rising Sun. She was 79. She was an avid traveler and was among one of the first tour groups to visit Russia. She attended St. John's United Methodist Church in Charlestown. Daughter of the late Oliver W. Strong and Cora M. Jackson Strong, she is survived by a daughter, Joan Shepherd McKinney of Anniston, Ala.; two sisters, Ruth Harper Moore of Charlestown and Catherine Strong Curtis of Clarksville, Md., nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today (Friday) at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 Main St., North East, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev Ruthann L. Hibbs, pastor of St. John's United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in North East Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Shepherd was born in Havre de Grace on April 27, 1914. She was a lifelong county resident and a sergeant with the toll facilities police on I-95 at the Susquehanna River. She retired in 1969 after 18 years of service.

In the obituary of Olive E. Shepherd who died on Feb. 9, the name of a sister was incorrect. It should have read Ruth Hooper Moore of Charlestown.
