Obituary from The News Journal, Wilmington, Delaware dated 11/16/2000: James E. Shepherd, Age 84, of North East, MD, died Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at Sunbridge Nursing Center, Elkton. He was born in Patterson Creek, WV on September 4, 1916 to the late William Floyd Shepherd & Sarah Lucille Hayes Shepherd. Mr. Shepherd was a retired self-employed insurance agent in the North East area from 1952 -1981. Mr. Shepherd served in the United States Marine Corps from September 22, 1937 to February 13, 1941. He was a member of the Maryland National Guard and North East United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the North East Lions Club. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Shepherd and his sister, Georgia S. Biddle both of North East, MD. Services will be private. Arrangements by Crouch Funeral Home.
