Mrs. Willis Eckley passed away at Estherville last Thursday, June 25, 1953, at the age of 77 years 11 months. Funeral services were held at the Cobb Warner Chapel in Spencer on Monday, June 29 at 2 p.m., with Rev. M. Eugene Foehringer, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Sandvig sang, accompanied by Mrs. Leonard Boone. Interment was to North Lawn cemetery at Spencer. Pallbearers were Earl Kraft, Roy Kraft, Harold Roland, Ed O'Neil and Orville Dotson. Florence Rebecca Carlson, daughter of John Mary Carlson was born at Gilmore City in 1875. She was baptized south of Rolfe when she was 18 years old, and became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Mallard. She lived a regligious life although isolated from the church of her faith. As a young lady, she was a member of the church choir. February 14, 1904, she was married to Willis Eckley and to their union four children were born. Her husband preceded her in death six years ago. After his death, she remained in her home until her hhealth failed. The past two years she has made her home with her daughters until the first of May when she was taken to Baltner rest home at Estherville, where she passed away. She is survived by four children: Mrs. L. C. Michael, of Dickens, Harvey Eckley of Ruthven, Fred Eckley of Terril and Mrs. Eleanor Anderson of Spencer. Also two brothers, Arthur Carlson from Montana, and Will, also from Montana. Two sisters, Mrs. Snyder from Washington and Mrs. Dathe from Missouri. Also 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, survive.
