Lexington Herald, Lexington, Kentucky, Monday, April 8, 1940, Page 11, Col. 5 & 6: Richmond, Ky., April 7 (Special )---Robert George Engle, 90, retired merchant, died at 6:30 o'clock tonight at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Homer Whittington, on Lancaster avenue here. Mr. Engle, who had been in ill health for the last year, had lived in Lexington until about three months ago when he came to Richmond to visit his daughter. He was a member of the Christian church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Martha Jones Engle; seven daughters, Mrs. Whittington, Mrs. Ben Coley of Louisville, Mrs. Joe Cooper of Louisville, Mrs. Hurshell Bowen of Louisville, Mrs. Anna Wallace of Lexington, Mrs. Oscar Eades of Sadieville and Mrs. T. J. Vivian of Mt. Sterling; two sons, Henry Engle of Louisville and Tom Engle of Lexington; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Frank Tinder, pastor of the First Christian church of Richmond, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the grave in the Lexington cemetery. Pallbearers will be six grandsons.
