Lexington Leader, Lexington, Kentucky, Tuesday, September 18, 1945, Page 2, Col. 5: Mrs. R. G. Engle Dies. Mrs. Martha J. Engle, 81, of Richmond, widow of R. G. Engle, died at 10:15 a.m. today at a local nursing home after an illness of several months. A native of Tyner, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Nancy Allen Jones. Mrs. Engle had been a resident of Lexington for about a year. She was a member of the Flatwoods Christian church at College Hill, Kentucky. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Anna E. Wallace, Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. H. M. Whittington, Richmond, with whom she formerly made her home; Mrs. Lillie Coley, Mrs. T. H. Bowen and Mrs. J. E. Cooper, all of Louisville; four sisters, Mrs. Lee Callahan, Inglewood, Calif.; Mrs. W. R. Reynolds, Mrs. Robert Reynolds, and Mrs. Annie Nance, all of Tyner, Ky.; a brother, James Henry Jones, Colorado Springs, Colo.; tweleve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The body was removed to the W. R. Milward mortuary chapel.

Lexington Leader, Lexington, Kentucky, Wednesday, September 19, 1945, Page 2, Col. 6: Engle---Funeral services for Mrs. Martha J. Engle, 81, of Richmond, widow of R. G. Engle, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday at the W. R. Milward mortuary chapel. The Rev. Leslie R. Smith will conduct the service and interment will be in the Lexington cemetery. Casket bearers will be Phillip Homer Engle, Joseph Cooper, William L. Wallace, Robert Vivian, Robert James Million and Homer Whittington.
