Individual Details
Francois Hoffpauir
(28 Jun 1781 - 5 Mar 1831)
Francois was Baptized in the Diocese of New Orleans in July, 1781. This may not mean that he was born in New Orleans, however, his parents appear in the census of New Orleans which was supposed to have been taken in June, 1778.
Francois and Marie were first married at a civil ceremony officiated by the Commandant of the Poste des Opelousas in the year 1804. Later, at the same time she was baptized in the Catholic Church, they were married in a Catholic ceremony on Sep. 29, 1806.
Francois served in the War of 1812 in Thompson's La 16th. Regiment, per Chihuahua, México, Registro Civil, Matrimonios, 1861-1967.

Notes
Birth
Rosemary Wright Hoffpauir in her book The Hoffpauirs of Louisiana states that Francois was born in the Opelousas Territory. However, Rosemary had not discovered that Francois and Amelia were twins, or that they were baptised in New Orleans under the surname "Fermier". Therefore I have to conclude that Rosemary simply assumed that he was born in the Opelousas Territory, based on the fact that Thomas was known to have moved there earlier.Alt name
Francois was baptized by a Spanish priest, and was given Spanish names while Thomas was using the surname Fermier.Endnotes
