My gr-gr-gr grandmother, Ruth Bresee Strain, was born 7 May 1815; died 27 June 1891. She married David Strain on 18 Mar 1831 and they resided in Worcester, Otsego County, NY. She was buried on the Roe Farm in South Worcester, NY and the undertaker was listed as "Overseer of the Poor". I believe one of her daughters married a Roe. Ruth's death certificate lists Jeremiah Bresee as her father and Melinda Hawkins as her mother. The only info I have found on them was a mortgage at Masonville, Delaware County, NY. I believe my Ruth was another child of the Jeremiah Bresee on your 1/29/03 posting. Also you had listed their child as a Hawkins Bresee. His name ties in nicely with his mother, Melinda Hawkins.
Deposition dated 11 May 1887 by John J. Bresee, her brother, appling for his Civil War benefits states he had a sister who married a David Strain and who lived in So. Worcester plus brothers Phineas and Nelson and another sister, Almira.

1890 Veterans Schedules census for Laurens, Otsego Co., NY shows her. David, her husband, was a private discharged in 1865.
1880 census for Worcester, Otsego Co., NY she is 65.
1870 census for Worcester, Otsego Co., NY she is 55.
1860 census for Worcester, Otsego Co., NY she is 46.
1850 census for Worcester, Otsego Co., NY shows her age 35 (born 1815 in NY) living with David Strain age 37 (born 1813 in NY) and their children oldest male age 17 (married abt 1832).
1840 census for Worcester, Otsego Co., NY shows David Strain age 20-30 living with a female age 20-30 and oldest child male age 10-15.
