Article from the Hendricks Pioneer dated 17 Dec 1920:
ANDREW O. AUNE LOSES ARM IN SHREDDER
Andrew O. Aune met with a serious accident yesterday (Thursday) afternoon just as he was starting to work after dinner with a corn shredder being operated on the Theodore Thoreson place
His left hand was caught in the husking rollers and so badly crushed that amputation of the arm above the elbow was necessary. It was some time before his companions were able to release him, and it is considered a miracle that he did not lose his life from the loss of blood. Dr. Jensen, assisted by J. W. Siverson, attended Mr. Aune last evening and his condition is reported favorable this (Friday) afternoon.
