Lars Aune Rites Held on June 26
Funeral rites for Lars Aune were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 1968 in Calvary Lutheran church
of Hendricks, with Rev. Lloyd Kallevig of Calvary and Rev. Daniel Jordahl of First English Lutheran church of Marshall officiating. Interment was made in East Cemetery near Hendricks, with Gerhard Aune, Gordon Aune, Oscar Ruttum, Alvin Pederson, Eddie Ronning and Theodore Mathison serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Bennie Thoreson and Mrs. Clara Morseth sang at the family service. During the funeral service at 2 p.m., Rev. Kallevig was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Carvell Johnson.
Lars O. Aune was born in Lincoln county to Ole and Marit Aune on April 25, 1892. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On May 14, 1926, he and Bertha Digre were united in marriage. To this union three sons and five daughters were born.
For the past 25 years he has lived in Marshall, MN, where he became a member of First English Lutheran church. Prior to that he resided in the Hendricks community, where he held membership in Calvary Lutheran church. Until his retirement in 1964, he was a long-time employee of Marshall's street department.
Mr. Aune is survived by his wife, Bertha; one son, Oliver; two daughters, Liala (Mrs. George Abel) and Barbara (Mrs. Lawrence Verkinderen); seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Gina Christianson, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, three daughters, three bothers and two sisters.
Lars Aune passed away in the Weiner Memorial hospital at Marshall late Saturday night, June 22, 1968, at the age of 76 years, one month and 28 days, after a lingering illness.
