(Bef 16 Feb 1337 - Bef 8 Jul 1337)
}
=== Name ===:'''Name:''' William of Hatfield Richardson, ''Royal Ancestry'', vol. I, pp. 86-87.:Second son of [[Plantagenet-70 | Edward III]], King of England and [[Hainaut-42 | Philippa of Hainault]]. [http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ENGLAND,%20Kings%201066-1603.htm#EdwardIIIdied1377B Cawley, ''Medieval Lands'' : Edward III] [http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/HAINAUT.htm#PhilippaHainautdied1369 Cawley, ''Medieval Lands'' : Phillipa of Hainault]
=== Birth ===:'''Born:''' Before 16 February 1337 at Hatfield near Doncaster, Yorkshire, England.
=== Death ===
:'''Died:''' Before 8 July 1337.
:'''Burial:''' York Minster in York, Yorkshire, England.
=== Notes ===:The fourth child of Edward III and Philippa of Hainault, William was born at the royal hunting lodge at Hatfield Chase, near Doncaster in 1336/7, and died there the following year. He was buried north of the high altar in York Minster, the church where he was baptized. The funeral cost a not inconsiderable amount but there are no records for the tomb. The alabaster effigy now lying at the west end of the York north choir aisle lacks an epitaph but is almost certainly that of the prince. The figure is 4ft 6in long, and depicts an adolescent with flowing hair, wearing a coronet decorated with pearls, a short tunic and hose, hip-belt and mantle, with hands clasped in prayer. William's coffin and monument must have been displaced during the rebuilding of the York choir in the 1360s. The location of his tomb is unknown, only the effigy survives.
