Rose, her preferred name, grew up in Woodland, Pennsylvania where she attended grade school. She graduated from Clearfield High School, class of 1942. In 1943 she went to work in an aircraft factory in New York State, stayed there until November of 1944 when she enlisted in the U.S. Navy. She became a Medic, held the rank of Petty Officer 3rd. class. She tended the wounded coming back from the South Pacific at the Naval Hospital in San Diego California. Rose was discharged from the Navy in May of 1946. After returning home she worked as a dential assistant for Dr. BYRD and later for Dr. TODD. Rose enjoys several hobbies, crafting dried flowers, quilting, and painting.
