Euclid Martin

(22 Mar 1847 - 17 Nov 1917)

Marshall Co., Virginia was formed from Ohio Co. in 1835
West Virginia separated from Virginia on 20 June 1863 to become the 35th State.

There is a photocopy of a photo of Euclid in in Jo Knight journal #2, page 32.

1892 and 1893. There are numerous newspaper articles relating to Euclid Martin's political career in Jo Knight's Journal #3, Pages 59-81. Euclid Martin served as the President of the Omaha Board of Trade, member of the Board of Education, Treasurer of the Democratic State Central Committee, member of the Douglass County Central Committee, and was World's Fair Commissioner for Nebraska. In 1898 President Cleveland appointed Euclid Martin to be postmaster at Omaha, Nebraska.

Euclid was a partner in the firm Parlin, Orendorff & Martin (an agricultural implement sales business) and ran the Omaha branch of the business. A profile and history of the business can be found in Jo Knight journal #3, Pages 76-78.

In May 1900, Euclid was published in "The Omahan" with an article titled "Omaha as a Commercial Center". Euclid was at the time serving as President of the Omaha Commercial Club. See Jo Knight journal Pages 82-83.

In 1909, Euclid sold his interest in the business "Parlin, Orendorff & Martin Company", and sold his home in Omaha, Nebraska in preparation for his move to California. See Jo Knight Journal #3, Pages 67 & 68.
