George Washington Martin

Marshall Co., Virginia was formed from Ohio Co. in 1835
West Virginia separated from Virginia on 20 June 1863 to become the 35th State.

RESIDENT HERE, DEAD
Mrs. Esther Trowbridge received
word this week that her brother,
George W. Martin, formerly of Blue
Hill, had passed away at his home in
Portland, Oregon following a stroke
of paralysis, and was buried at Van-
couver, Washington.
Mr. Martin was born in West Vir-
ginia February 22, 1861. He moved
to Illinois when a boy and in 1885
came to this locality and lived on
the place now farmed by Alferd
Frahm a half mile west of Blue Hill.
The family moved to Oregon some
twenty years ago. Mr Martin is sur-
vived be his widow and nine children.
There is a photocopy of a photo of George in Jo Knight journal #2, page 31.
