1857 - 1859 George Gallaway married Sophia Lowe (from Sophia Lowe obituary and Missouri marriage records)

1860 John Milton still in Marshall Co., Virginia with parents, age 9. George Galaway and Sophia Galaway (Mary’s parents) are in Jefferson County, Missouri.

1861, September 28 Mary Gallaway born in Illinois. (from Jotham’s journal)

1864 Sophia Lowe married William Friend (from Sophia Lowe obituary)

1870 John Milton is now living in LaSalle County, Illinois. He’s still living with Jotham and Rebecca. Age is listed as 18. Mary Gallaway, age 8, is living in Jefferson County, Nebraska with her mother Sophia Friend and stepfather William Friend.

1878 In a letter written by Jotham Martin, Jotham mentions that Milton is living near Fairbury, Nebraska. Fairbury is in Jefferson County, which places him in the same county that Mary was in during the 1870 census. Jotham and Rebecca are still living in Illinois at the time.

1879 John and Mary Martin are in Nebraska for birth of their first born, Etna.

1880 John and Mary Martin are in Kansas for the census. Second child is born in Kansas.

1900 John and Mary Martin are now living in Washington with 9 children. Apparently they've moved several times. The children were born in Nebraska, then Kansas, then Washington, then Oregon, then Washington again.

1902 John Milton is living in Vancouver, Washington as per newspaper article about Jotham and Rebecca’s 60th anniversary.

1903 Leona Louden is born to G. W. Louden and Mary Friend in Washington. This appears to be a 2nd marriage of Mary Galloway. Her name was never Friend, but her stepfather was William Friend. (confirmation of Mary Galloway’s marriage to G. W. Louden).

1910 John Milton is now in Blue Hill, Nebraska living with his brother. Marital status is shown as divorced. I was unable to find Mary in the 1910 census.

1917 Feb 14 Sophia Lowe died (from Obituary). Buried in Jewell County, Kansas with her 2nd husband William Friend. Obituary names daughter as Jennie Martin-Louden. I don’t know why they call Mary Jane (Jennie) but it confirms two marriages, to a Martin and a Louden.

1920 John Milton is now living in Blue Hill as a boarder. His marital status has been changed to widowed. However, Mary seems to be still alive.

1920 Dec. 1 Mary J. Louden dies in Clark Co., Washington.

1922 Nov. 15 John Milton died (from tombstone inscription in Blue Hill)
