Marshall Co., Virginia was formed from Ohio Co. in 1835
West Virginia separated from Virginia on 20 June 1863 to become the 35th State.

Obituary
Mrs. Rebecca Clegg Martin passed
away in Blue Hill, Neb., at the home
of T. L. Trowbridge after an illness
of several years. She had been un-
able to leave her bed for many
months, but under the kind adminis-
trations of her children, she had en-
dured her ailment.
She was born on March 28,1819, in
Marshall county, West Virginia, and
was married there in 1842 to Jotham
Martin, and lived in West Virginia
until 1861, when they moved to Illi-
nois. The family came to Nebraska
in 1884 and settled at Blue Hill and
her residence has been continuous
there since. She was the mother of
thirteen children, five of whom have
gone before her, and the ones who
survive her are Presley, of this city;
Euclid, of Omaha, Neb.; Mary San-
som, of Wilcox, Neb.;Milton, Joshua,
George, Kinsey, Martin, and Esther
Trowbridge, of Blue Hill, Neb., be-
sides forty-three grandchildren liv-
ing and twenty-five great-grand-child-
ren and one half-sister, Miss Ruth
Clegg, of Miltonvale, Kan. All the
children attended the funeral except
Presley.
The couple lived to an exteme old
age. Mr. Martin died April 20, 1907,
and was in his eighty-ninth year, and
the faithful wife who folowed him
was 89 years, 4 months and 6 days
of age.
Funeral services were held at the
residence on Wednesday forenoon,
and the remains were laid to rest in
the Blue Hill cemetery.
