Birth
Elizabeth (mother) registered the birth, she was illiterate, and the registrar must have misheard the family name and wrote Sitter rather than Setter.Marriage
Sarah Anne Whelan & Charles William SetterSarah Anne Whelan (1866-1943) was born at Rawbelle, North Burnett Region, not far from Monto in 1866. Her parents Anne and James Whelan were working their way from Brisbane to the Longreach District. Four children were born on the route. The youngest being Philip Whelan (1863-1919) who was born at Dakehead Station, near the Burnett River. Philip was accidentally killed at Withywine Station near Longreach when he was trampled by a bullock team.
Sarah met and married Charles William Setter (1857-1942) at Jericho in 1885 when both their families were working in the area.
Charles William Setter was born at Geelong in 1857 to Elizabeth and George Setter. Elizabeth and George worked their way from Geelong to the Longreach district whilst raising twelve children. Six of their children with their spouses eventually settled in Longreach, two died as infants and four settled in New South Wales.
Sarah Anne and Charles William had twelve children. They are both buried in the Longreach Cemetery.

Mr. Charles William Setter, at the age of 86 years, rassed peacefuly
away at his residence in Crane Street, on Friday of last week, after
a lengthy illness.
Mr. Setter was born in Victoria and migrated to Queensland in the
eary eighties with has parents and other members of the family. On
their arrival in Queensland they carried on work as tanksinkers, fencers, etc. In later years he became a carrier, and was compelled to go through many hardships looking after his horses during droughts.
Eventually he gave up his carrying business and took up employment on the Longreach Shire Council where he remained for a lengthy period. At that time his brother-in-law (Mr. Richard Coleman) was overseer for the Longreach Shire Council. Even-
tually he retired through infirmities and resided with his wife until his demise. Mr. Setter had been a resident of Longreach for over 50 years.
In 1885 he married, in Jericho, Miss Annie Whelan. There were 12
children, six of whom predeceased him. The eldest daughter's death was caused by a snake bite received in the Muttaburra district.
He is survived by his widow, two sons, William Henry and Arthur Roy, and four daughters, Meadames A. Mulholland, A. Palethorpe, C. Flanagan and F. Moger, all of Longreach. Mr. John Setter, is a brother and Mesdames Charlotte Coleman and Harriet Whelan are sisters. There are 21 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The funeral left his home at 12 noon on Saturday. Rev. C. E. Torlach
officiating at the graveside.
