Marriage
Notice in the paper...At 8 o'clock on the evening of 3 Feb 1904 occurred the marriage of Miss Frances Bernice Gaumer and Ernest Eugene Breniman at the home of the brides' parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.G. Gaumer of Fairfield, Iowa. The Rev. Corky officiating.June 19th, 1949, at the Breniman home southeast of Brooklyn, many gathered to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary which had actually occured in February.
Death
Breniman Rites Tuesday -- Death Occurrred Suddenly Sunday -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ernest Breniman were conducted Tuesday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Bramer's funeral home, in charge of the Rev. E. W. F. Holler and the Rev. Earl Deardorff. Mrs. Ed Bartachek was at the organ. Interment was in the IOOF cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers; Clyde Graham, Ross Brannian, N. N. Spillett, Jack Stoker, Charles McSherry and Joe Roth.Mrs. Breniman's death occurred Sunday afternoon at Community hospital in Grinnell where she was taken the previous day following a heart attack. She was 69 years old.
Frances Bernice Breniman was born Jan. 16, 1882, at Fairfield, Ia., the daughter of Solomon and Mary Gaumer. She married Ernest Breniman Feb. 3, 1904, and they settled on a farm located five miles southeast of Brooklyn where they have always lived. Four children were born to the couple.
Active Worker ... Mrs. Breniman was active in Farm Bureau work and in neighborhood clubs. She was a girls club leader and has been an active member of the Neighborhood Betterment club for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest, four children, Lester of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Mildred Belknap of Lincoln, Neb., Forrest of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Ruth Adkins of Grinnell; a sister, Bessie Gaumer of Fairfield, and six grandchildren.
