Brooklyn Chronicle, April 30, 1980
Funeral services for Fred Willett, 80, of route 2, Brooklyn, were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, in the Grace United Methodist Church of Brooklyn. Mr. Willett died Monday night, April 21, 1980, in University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Rev. Fred Pierce and Rev. Glenn Froth officiated. The organist was Mrs. Ed Bartachek. The flower attendants were Mrs. Harlan McCulley, Mrs. Lawrence Vercande and Mr. and Mrs. Bruno VanErsvelde. Casketbearers were Herman Miller, Dan McConnell, Charles Klaassen, Lawrence Vercande, Melvin Uridil, and Harlan McCulley. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
William Fredrick Willett, son of Neal and Rose Breniman Willett, was born April 17, 1900, in Warren Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa. He attended rural schools and was united in marriage to Belva Breneman on August 31, 1924, in Brooklyn. She died in 1952. On April 1, 1956, he was united in marriage to Mary Eva Newton in Iowa City. He farmed in Warren Township until his retirement. Mr. Willett was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Eva; two sons, Robert and Ralph, both of Brooklyn; a stepson, Albert Newton of Solon; one brother, Howard Willett of Marion; a sister, Mrs. Helen Hansen of Brooklyn; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Belva.

Burial

His funeral was conducted at the Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn, Iowa.
