"Edmund Greer married Frances L. Hodnett 31 January 1810 in Greene County, Georgia. By 1820 Edmund was in Monroe County, Mississippi and in 1830 in Lowndes County, age 40 - 60 with Henry Greer and family. He died September 9, 1852 in Carroll County, Mississippi. Frances was born 4 December 1791; died 29 June 1859. Both are buried in the Greer Family cemetery 2 miles south of Vaiden, Mississippi in Carroll County on Dr. H. H. Carter's cattle farm. Edmund left a will dated 4 August 185-, page 105 Carroll County naming wife Frances Greer and children: Benjamin, Mary Perkins, Elizabeth Greer, Matilda Bell, Jane Randle, Lucy Ann Gordon, Franky Murphy, Edmund P. Greer (Youngest) and the children of Mary Perkins, Daniel D. Murphy, Trustee for Perkins children. Ex. Thom J. Fulliton (Fullilove?) and Dan'l D. Murphy. Wit: Robert William Beatty, Thomas Fulliton. "Edmond and Frances Greer. We have this information on the Greer family from Jewel Murphy Shelton (Mrs. Lamar). Her grandmother, Frances Laurer Greer had her parents and brothers and sisters names and birth dates written in her Bible. Frances Laurer Greer was married to William "Billy" Murphy. Their one son was Dr. J. D. "Jack" Murphy who was Mrs. Shelton's father. She has preserved the family Bible with this information: One of the daughters, Lucy Ann Greer, married James Hiram Gordin. I have assumed that the William "Billy" Murphy was the son of Frances Laurer Greer, rather than the husband. This may be incorrect.)
