"Benjamin F. Greer, born ca. 1816; m. Sarah Ellis 6 May 1847 Lowndes County, Ms. bk3, p. 89; moved to Texas ca. 1857; settled in Falls County west of Marlin; died near Tyler, Texas 4 May 1865 on way home from the Civil War. Grave not located. Sallie Ann married (2) a Mr. Cranford and is buried at Chilton, Falls County, Tx." (MY GREER LINEAGE, 1992, by Mary Lee Barnes, page 69. Their children are also from this source.)

"Of the daughters of Ben F. Greer, one married a Hackett and was living at Chilton, Texas in 1937. Her son was Dr. Charles T. Hackett of the University of Texas, Austin (deceased by 1975). Another daughter of Ben F. Greer married a Hailey and was living at Marlin, Texas in 1937. Mrs. R. J. Worrell (Sallie Bennett Greer) lived at Angleton, Texas and was a descendant of Ben F. Greer."
