Individual Details

Edmund Petty Greer

(March 5, 1833 - )

Edmund was a member of Company A of the Ballentines Regiment of the CSA who fought in the Civil War; this company was from Carroll County, Mississippi.

(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Mary Lee Barnes gives Edmund Petty Greer's place of death as near Yoakum, Texas, which is in Lavaca County. Other than his name and death date, the only other information given by Mary Lee is his birth date and place of birth as Mississippi. In WHO'S WHO IN TEXAS, 1931 edited by Emory E. Bailey, in an article about John Edmund Greer, his father is given as Edmund Petus Greer. John Edmund was born in Italla County, Mississippi in 1865 and he first practiced law in Lavaca County, Texas. Due to the dates and place, I feel certain this is the same Edmund Petus (or Petty) Greer.)
