"William Greer was born 6 April 1768." (Henry English Bible of Greene County, Georgia. Owner: Miss Pauline Stokely, Pelham, Georgia. Found in GEORGIA BIBLE RECORDS, 1985, compiled by Jeannette Holland Austin, page 376.)
"William Greer, born 6 April 1768, is listed in the Henry English Bible records published in GEORGIA BIBLE RECORDS by Austin along with, presumably, his children below. This is probably William Greer who married Delila Haynes in 1795 and therefore brother-in-law of Henry English. But whose son is he? It is believed by some he was the son of Aquilla Greer, Jr. This William Greer was in Greene County, Georgia on the 1820 census, enumerated just below Henry English. He is not there in 1830, and there is no estate record of him. There is a deed from William Greer to Henry English in 1828." (MY GREER LINEAGE, 1992, by Mary Lee Barnes, page 112.)
"William Greer, son of Aquilla Greer, Jr. and Elizabeth Bandy Greer, who married Delilah Haynes in Green County, Georgia, January 15, 1794. She was the daughter of Sarah Greer and Henry Haynes, Jr.; they were first cousins. William was in Rome, Morgan County, Georgia in 1808, when his son Jesse Mercer Greer was born. William is head of household in the 1850 census of Georgia in Muscogee County, where he is listed as born in 1768 in Virginia and is living with his youngest child, a daughter, Elizabeth Betsy Ann Greer Green.
