John Greer is shown in a listing of the children of James and Elizabeth Greer on a genalogical chart of Richard L. Greer, Marion, Virginia, 1985.
Sandra Eskew shows a birthyear about 1781 for John. (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Why do all the other children have birthdates except John?)
"John Fitch Greer settled at Grassy Cove, Bledsoe County, Tennessee in 1816; married Betsy Fowler, of Franklin County, Virginia and had six children." (GREAR - GREER - GREERE - GRIER by Robert M. Torrence, A.B., F.G.S.P., F.I.A.G; 110 Edgevale Road, Baltimore 10, Maryland, pages 24 - 25.) (Information on this family from the family Bible of John W. Greer, Kingston Springs, Tennessee; and also recorded in the research notes of L. L. McNees (deceased) of Ebenezer Mississippi as per GREER KINSMEN by J. B. Bell.)
"John Greer and Elizabeth Fowler married 14 January 1813." (MARRIAGE BONDS IN FRANKLIN COUNTY, VIRGINIA by Marshall Wingfield.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: The papers included in the papers of Martha V. Harris, Phoenix, Arizona, about 1955, show this John Greer as the one who married Elizabeth Fowler. However, most researchers have shown that John Fitch Greer married Elizabeth Fowler. John Fitch Greer was the son of Moses Greer, who was the son of William Greer, who was the son of John Greer. Personally, I don't think James and Elizabeth had a child, John, but as he is shown in a chart done by Richard Greer and this chart is the only mention I have ever seen of a son, John. I have included him, however, to leave no stones unturned, so to speak. All of the children, except John have full birthdates, and were probably taken from a Bible or Quaker records. For John not to have a full birth date, makes me very suspicious.)
