Delilah Greer

"Delilah (Delia) Greer probaly married (1) Bailey George 18 June 1807 in Clarke County, Georgia. Bailey was the son of William George and brother of Travis George who married her sister, Dianna. Bailey George died ca. 1816 in Clarke COunty as Delilah George and Aquilla Greer, her brother made bond as administrators of Bailey's estate on 2 December 1816. By the 4th of January 1819, Delilah had married William McNees as they were named guardians of Mary, James, and William George with sureties being Geo W. Moore, R. Fullwood and John Williamson. On 2 September 1822 Robert Stewart (Stuart) was named guardian of the children with Parmenas Haynes, Richard Cox, James Langford and Edward Conner as Sureties. And on April 5, 1824, John H. Lowe was named guardian of James G.(reer) George with Milner Echols as Surety. (Clarke County, Georgia Administration and Guardian Bonds, Book B.)
"Before 12 March 1838, they were in Green County, Alabama where on that date a bond of $20,000 was made by James G. George to administer the Estate of William McNees. Delilah had renounced her right to administer the estate. ON the 20 July 1846, the court received and released from Delilah mcNees to James G. George as the administrator of Wm McNees, dec'd, dated 22 June 1846. James G. George, Samuel C. McNEESE (sic) and James Greer (son of Aquilla, her brother). (Flora D. "Delilah McNees was on the 1850 census in Green County, Alabama, as were Robert F. Stuart, probalby the son of sister Priscilla who married Robert F. Stuart, Sr. and James Greer, mentioned above. She went to Noxubee County, Mississippi where her sons, Jams Greer and Samuel McNees settled before 1855 where she left a will." (MY GREER LINEAGE, 1992, by Mary Lee Barnes, page 64.)
Delilah (sometimes spelled Delila) (Greer) McNees left a will naming all of her children. Her will is located at Noxubee County, Mississipi, Will Book A, page 220. Information about her family is from the Greer research notes of L. L. McNees, DESCENDANTS OF HENRY ANDERSON OF NEWBERRY COUNTY, D. C.
LDS records show the birth date of Delilah Greer to have been 20 September 1786, but this appears to be incorrect.
