"Rayburn Cantrell was born in 1800 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He was a small boy when his parents moved to Warren County, Tennessee. In the early 1820's, he married Ellen Emeline White. She was born in 1802 in Tennessee. After their marriage they lived in Bledsoe County, Tennessee for a number of years before moving to Marion County and then to Hamilton County. In the late 1840's they joined a caravan of relatives on the move westward, and they settled in Dade County, Missouri. Some of their children married prior to their move to Missouri. In the 1850's Rayburn moved again to Lawrence County, Missouri, where he died in the late 1850's. In 1870, four of their children were at home with their mother. In 2870, all of the children had married or died. Ellen was living with her son, Isaac and his wife Sarah in Lawrence County. Ellen died in the 1870's."
