"John Cantrell was born in 1828 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee. He moved to Missouri with his parents. In 1850, he was living with his brother Reuben. A Mary Cantrell born in 1827 in Tennessee was listed following Reuben's name. It is assumed that Mary was his wife. She could not have been his sister as his sister Mary was born in 1834, and she was listed at home with her parents. This researcher has been unable to determine where John spent the next twenty years. If the Mary listed was his wife, what happened to her? The only known descendants of John are the children born to Lucinda Brackins who he married in May of 1870. Lucinda was born in 1848 in Tennessee. She was a daughter of Alfred and Margaret Brackins and a sister to Texanna who married his brother George." (CANTRELL - CANTRILL by Horace Elbert Cantrell, 1972, pages 406J - 406K.)
