Individual Details
Jonathan Newman
(December 24, 1833 - Abt, 1869)
FAG 114698695
Birth date from the 1854 Bible of Johnathan Newman.
1860 Freestone County, Texas census.
Jonathan Newman is shown in the Freestone County, Texas 1860 census, but is not with the family in the 1870 census of Limestone County, Texas. Therefore, he must have died after the conception of the last child, Polly born in 1868, but before the 1870 census was taken. In a note of Agnes (Phelps) Hammonds, she states, "Grandfather Jonathan Newman lived in Freestone County close to Fairfield when he died."
It is probable Jonathan Newman is buried at Old Zion Cemetery, where his father was buried two years later.
