"George Pickett, of Richmond, Virginia, was born 1753, served as drummer boy in the Revolutionary War, married Margaret Sanderson Flint, a widow, and was the grandfather of General George E. Augustine Tebb's) Company, 2nd Virginia Regiment, commanded at various times by Col. Gregory Smith and Col. Williams Brent, Revolutionary War. He was a merchant at Richmond, of the firm Pickett - Pollard & Johnston, and a staunch Churchman. Many of his descendants spell their name Picket, with but one "t."
