1840 Madison Parish, Louisiana census, page 120: Tod R. TERRY, 1 male under 5, 1 male 30 - 40, 1 female 20 - 30. (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Just before Tod R. Terry is Martha BURRELL, 1 male under 5, 1 male 5 - 10, 1 male 20 - 30, 1 female 40 - 50, 3 slaves; immediately after Tod R. Terry's listing is William HILL, 2 males 20 - 30. On page 123 of this census is a listing for Hardy HILL, 2 males 10 - 15, 2 males 40 - 50, 1 female 10 - 15, 2 females 20 - 30, 1 female 40 - 50, 3 slaves. From the will of Hardy Hill, it does not appear that Hardy was the father of Mary Eliza (HILL) TERRY, but the two young men living next door to Tod R. and Mary Eliza Terry on this census do appear to be her brothers, as William H. Hill was a witness of Tod R. and Mary E. Terry's marriage.)
