Guy Alexander Dulin
(November 11, 1829 - July 17, 1882)
"G. A. Dulin was born in Henry County, Georgia in 1829. He and Mary Owen married in December 1853 and moved to Marshall County, Alabama. Then with their children Emory Dow "Buddy," William Alexander "Buck," Leona and Jenny, they came to Eastland County in 1875. Their oldest daughter, Nancy P. had had married Allen Morton several months earlier in Alabama and moved to Eastland County, Texas. Prior to 1875, the people had to go to Stephenville toget mail. A general merchandise store was started near Mansker Lake. The mail was brought to this store for the settlers of Eastland County around 1875 and 1876. Nancy and Allen received word that her family had decided to move to Eastland County, Texas. The Dulin family would arrive by train in Dallas, Texas with their household goods and furniture. Dallas was as far west as the T & P Railroad was completed in 1875. Allen packed their wagon and the couple made the trip to Dallas. After arriving in Dallas the couple had to wait several days before the family arrived on the train. They had taken enough supplies and bedding; cooked outside and slept in the wagon. They reported that several families were waiting for relatives to arrive by train. They could park their wagons near the depot; water was available for all of the campers. G. A. Dulin settled west of Eastland - north of where the railroad was to be built from Eastland to Cisco. The five remaining children moved with the Dulin family - married and lived in Eastland County." (Folia Mae Morton Jarrett in "G. A. Dulin" in EASTLAND COUNTY HISTORY, page 164.)
"Confederate Reunions brought back memories. Four Dulin brothers enlisted with the Confederacy during the Civil War. Guy at 33 was a farrier with Russell's Raiders, and received $170 for his horse, $73.60 for the risk to it, and $25 for equipment." (Edith Wood Grissom in "Dulin-Owen" in EASTLAND COUNTY HISTORY, 1989, page 164.)
