Historical Society Records for Smithville Cemetery also state that John died at age 78 yr. 9 mo. 23 da.

Child's Gazetteer of Jefferson County, New York 1684-1890; pg. 456, Town of Henderson - John Ivory s. of John born Mass. His children were Sally, Jonas, Horace, Theophilus, John, Norman died during the late war, Maria, is in the west, William who resides in Michigan, and Louisa m. Amasa Clarke of Michigan.

"Our Country and Its People" states that John Ivory was the first blacksmith in Smithville and was followed by his son, Jonas.

1840 U.S. Census John and Betsey Ivory live in Henderson. Three children are at home. The ages are correct for Maria, William and Louisa.
