"Norman Ivory deceased was a Private in Co. B, 12th Regiment Michigan Infantry commanded by Capt. Thomas Wallace. The record said Norman Ivory entered the service of the United States at Benton Township, Berrien County, Michigan on the 5th day of Nov. 1861. That the said Norman Ivory died on or about the 9th day of May 1862 at St. Louis, Missouri from effects of agun shot wound received at the Battle of Shiloh, April 5th 1862."
