"I was educated in the Texarkana public school, attended a business school immediately after high school and worked as a secretary for about two years. I then entered St. Michaels School of Nursing (Texarkana) and graduated in 1929. Did graduate work in surgical nursing and operating room nursing for a brief period. I came to Graham Hospital in Keokuk in August, 1930, as operating room supervisor. Well--I worked my tail off at that place until I got hung up with a young attractive dentist -- you know the rest, I am still 'hung up' and love it."
