They were on the last boat out of Greece before Hitler invaded in WWII and the ports were closed.

Pauline Stavracos Kourabas introduced Tony & Frieda. She arranged for them to sit together at a dance. When Tony courted Frieda, he would come to the Kostakos home with a delicious cake from George’s Bakery in Rockville Center, Long Island.
