"Ernest L. Koleber, 66, Lawrence, Kansas died July 25, 1997 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born February 22, 1931 at WaKeeney, Kansas to George Koleber and Mary Margheim.
He attended school in WaKeeney, Ks. and went into the Army in October of 1948 and was discharged in 1951, he worked as a painter with his father. He attended Barber College in 1954 graduated, then he moved to Lawrence in 1954 where he operated a Barber Shop in the 700 block of Massachusetts Street for 36 years, retiring due to illness in 1990. He received the Service to Mankind award from the Lawrence Sertoma Club.
He was a life member of the VFW, life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
He married Iva Lee Hooper in July of 1953. She survives of the home.
Other Survivors include: son: Richard Koleber of McLouth, Ks; daughter: June James of Killeen, Tx; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Memorial services were held Monday, July 28 1997 at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Inurment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association for research.
