Alvina Niver 1917-2000
WAKEENEY - Alvina Niver, 83, died Dec. 25 at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney. She was born Aug. 7, 1917, at WaKeeney, the daughter of George and Mary Margheim Koleber. She married Elmer Buehler in 1939, at Hoisington. He died Aug. 17, 1947. She then married Henry Krentzel at Eureka. He died Nov. 19, 1971. A resident of WaKeeney since 1979, she was a waitress at Helen's Corner and Quality Cafe, both in WaKeeney.
Mrs. Niver was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary No.
3449, American Legion Moore Post 197 and Presbyterian Church, all of
WaKeeney, and American Legion Jack Warren Post 22 of Delta Junction, Alaska.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Kara Small of Wilson, Bernadine
Eichman of Manhattan and Valetta Smith of Soldotna, Alaska; one brother,
Edward Koleber of California; one sister, Martha Kroeger of Denver,Colo.;
13 step grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur Koleber, Lavern Koleber, Harold Dean Koleber and Ernest Koleber; and three sisters, Herminia Nowlin, Elennora Draper and Ester McCann.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney with
the Rev. Floyd Starr III officiating. Private burial will be at Great Bend
City Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at
the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the
funeral home.

WaKEENEY -- Alvina Niver, 83, WaKeeney, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Trego-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
Mrs. Niver was born Alvina Koleber on Aug. 7, 1917, at WaKeeney and was a WaKeeney resident since 1979. She was a waitress at Helen's Corner and Quality Cafe in WaKeeney. She was a member of American Legion Jack Warren Post 22 of Delta Junction, Alaska, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 3449, American Legion Moore Post 197 and the Presbyterian Church, all of WaKeeney.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Buehler, in 1947; and her second husband, Henry Krentzel, in 1971.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Kara Small of Wilson, Bernadine Eichman of Manhattan and Valetta Smith of Soldotna, Alaska; a brother, Edward Koleber of California; a sister, Martha Kroeger of Denver; 13 step grandchildren; and numerous step great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney 67672, the Rev. Floyd Starr III officiating. Private burial will be in Great Bend City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home

"Alvina Niver was born August 7, 1917, in WaKeeney, Kansas, to George and Mary (Margheim) Koleber. She passed away in the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney, Kansas on December 25, 2000, at the age of 83 years, 4 months, 18 days.
Alvina was united in marriage with Elmer Buehler at Hoisington, Kansas in 1939. He passed away August 17, 1947. She later married Henry Krentzel in Eureka, Kansas. He passed away November 19, 1971.
Alvina lived in Alaska for a number of years, returning to WaKeeney in 1979. She worked as a waitress at Helen's Corner and Quality Cafe.
Alvina enjoyed bowling and playing cards. In her younger years she also liked the steel guitar and dancing. She was a member of the American Legion Jack Warren Post #22 at Delta Junction, Alaska, the V.F.W. Randall Reid Post #3449 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Moore Post #197 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Presbyterian Church, all of WaKeeney.
Survivors include three step-daughters, Kara Small of Wilson, Bernadine Eichman of Manhattan and Valetta Smith of Soldotna, Alaska; a brother, Edward Koleber of California, and a sister, Martha Kroeger, Denver, Colorado; 13 step-grandchildren; and many step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Laverne, Harold Dean and Ernest Koleber; and three sisters, Herminia Nowling, Elennora Draper, and Ester McCann.
Funeral services were Friday, December 29, 2000, in the Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, with the Rev. Floyd Starr, III officiating. Burial was in the WaKeeney City Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Presbyterian Church of WaKeeney which may be left in care of the funeral home."
