24 Feb 2015 I transcribed, word for word, the deed from heirs of Joseph Dixon to Henry Landers.
"Know all men by these presents that we John Dixon & Harriet his wife, Robert L. Dixon & Hannah his wife, George Thomas, Nancy his wife, Anna Dixon, Elizabeth Thomas, in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to each of us heirs of the Estate of Joseph Dixon late of Darke County, Ohio, dec'd, to us paid by Henry Landers of the State and County aforesaid as heir at law in the above estate; the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby bargain, sell and convey to the said Henry Landers his heirs and assigns forever, the following Real estate, viz: ..."
I copied the above to Judy Russell, The Legal Genealogist, and she agreed with me that the phrase "as heir at law" implies that Henry himself or in stead of his wife, is a legal heir of Joseph Dixon.
